Kedarkantha Trek: An Overview
The Kedarkantha Trek is the winter crown jewel of Dev Bhoomi—the Land of the Gods—Uttarakhand, a paradise for trekkers in India. Fondly called the “Queen of Winter Treks”, this iconic adventure takes you through snow-draped pine forests and dreamy mountain landscapes inside Govind National Park, Uttarkashi.

Standing tall at 12,500 ft (3,812 m), the Kedarkantha summit offers breathtaking 360° views, yet remains surprisingly beginner-friendly with its well-marked trails.
With Mountains Path, you’ll soak in crisp alpine air, golden sunrises, and cosy camps—a perfect introduction to Himalayan snow trekking.

The trek begins at Sankri, a quaint Himalayan village and your gateway to the adventure. It’s a 7–8 hour drive from Dehradun, a journey filled with sweeping views of Mussoorie, Naitwar, Naugaon, Mori, and Purola. From the Sankri base camp, the trail winds through forests of oak and rhododendron, past a serene frozen lake, and eventually leads you to the thrilling final climb. The summit rewards you with panoramic scenes of iconic peaks such as Bandarpoonch, Kalanag, and Swargarohini—views that stay etched in memory long after the trek ends.
